TIP: You can try to keep the costs of your time in Mendoza by doing a self guided wine tour. The best area to do it is Maipu, where you can rent bikes and then head to the vineyards yourself. Mr Hugo Bikes is a good place to get a bike, and you’ll be given a map and tips on which wineries to visit at a discounted rate.
Stick to one or at most two wine tours per day, and pick the activities for the rest of the day wisely. For example, a cooking class is a perfect compliment to a wine tasting tour!
Day 2
Founded in 1561, Mendoza is one of the largest cities in Argentina with a population of roughly 2 million people. Make sure to go to the Museo de Bellas Artes – known as Casa de Fader. It’s located in a beautiful mansion and the exhibit is fantastic.
Day 3
Head to the winelands and towards the mountains for impressive views
With so many wineries in Mendoza, picking which ones to visit isn’t easy. These are spread across three main regions – Maipú, Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley, each of them having its charm.

These are some of the best guided activities outside Mendoza:
- Andes high mountain tour from Mendoza – a great day hike on Cerro Aconcagua.
- Andes day trip from Mendoza including Aconcagua, Uspallata and Puente del Inca – this hike to Aconcagua includes a visit to the beautiful Puente del Inca.
- Don Daniel ranch: the real gaucho experience – a fantastic day trip if you like horseback riding.
- Cacheuta Thermal Baths: full day activity from Mendoza – it’s a lovely tour to a natural spa not far from Mendoza.
- Villavicencio natural reserve half day tour from Mendoza – a tour to a natural reserve where most of the mineral water in Mendoza comes from.
